Wherever you are in Scotland there's always a wood not far from you!  The links on the left will help you search for places to go or things to do, and below
we've picked out a few samples to give you some ideas for getting out and being active.

Scottish Borders

Glentress Forest
Set in the heart of the Tweed Valley Forest Park a mile east of Peebles and only 40 minutes by car from Edinburgh, Glentress has some of the best mountain biking trails in Europe and walking trails for all abilities.

Dumfries

Mabie Forest 
There's a great playpark for the family and woodland walks for everyone as well as some spectacular and challenging mountain biking trails.

Central Belt

Callendar Wood
This community woodland in Falkirk is a stone's throw from the train station and has a number of easy walking trails and cycling routes to help you blow away the cobwebs.

Stirlingshire

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park Visitor Centre
Next to Aberfoyle, the centre (also known as the David Marshall Lodge) has a wide choice of fun or strenuous walks with great scenery and a osprey viewing centre. 

Cairngorms

Glenmore Forest Park 
Breathtaking scenery and lots to do either on foot, bike or on water, begin at the visitor centre and take in some the views and some clean Highland air.

Perthshire

Kinnoull Hill 
Take a walk into the woods from the famous city and stretch your legs in this popular woodland park. There are four short walks that are great for first-timers.

Fort William, Lochaber

Cow Hill Walk 
2 miles of scenic footpath link Fort William with the majestic Glen Nevis but if you're feel fit then head on up the glen for fine views and great walking. 

Aberdeen

Kirkhill Forest 
Described as the 'green lung' of the city, there are circular walks, horseriding, orienteering, and cycling facilities just 3 miles from the city.

Inverness-shire

Daviot Wood
Take a stress-busting walk on the 3 mile red trail set in stunning Scots Pine woodland situated 3 miles south of Inverness on the A9.

Sutherland

Aldie Burn 
Near Tain in Easter Ross, this woodland has an all ability trail and waymarked trails for first timers and those who want to stretch the legs. Try your hand at biking too!
