Southern Scotland's myths and legends are reflected in seven stone sculptures in place across the 7stanes mountain bike centres. The sculpted 'stanes' (the Scots word for stone) are found out on the trails in prominent locations. They're accessible on foot and by horse as well as by bike.

7stanes quest
To coincide with the creation of the stanes, we set up two competitions to encourage visitors to the 7stanes forests, including a quest to solve the mystery of the seven stanes on the 7stanes.
The quest has proved a great way to plan a road trip around all the 7stanes - and bask in the self-satisfaction of cracking the code while you ride. We still have leaflets in our Visitor Centres and around the 7stanes bikes shops, so why not pick one up and do the quest just for fun?
