Ride trails as you find them, taking due care, and notify us of any trail problems you encounter.

Glentrool

Trails: All trails open

Conditions: The Purple Route can be muddy after heavy rain with possible obstructions. Take care on the sections of forest road which are loose and rough.

Diversions: None.

Other: visitor centre now open.

Kirroughtree

Trails: All trails open.

Conditions: Good.

Diversions: None.

Other: Visitor Centre now open. Bike hire Friday - Monday in May and June

Dalbeattie

Trails: All trails open.

Conditions:  The trail and log after The Eye of the Needle suffers from flooding in prolonged wet weather. If this is the case, please proceed with care. 

Diversions:  None.

Mabie

Trails: All trails open

Conditions: Trails are riding well

Diversions:

  • Woodhead Loop (Blue grade)  Due to the harvesting operations along the Woodhead Hill section of the trail, we advise bikers not to use this section for health & safety reasons. Please follow the diversion to link with the Big Views Loop (green grade) - see the Woodhead Loop diversion map (PDF 1Mb). Tese saftey measures will be in place until the end of May 2008.

Ae

Trails:  All trails open, some diversions in place (see information below).

Conditions: OK.

Diversions:  Forestry Operations are underway between post 19 (Bran Burn Bash) and post 21 (the Edge) on the Ae-Line (red route). Several short diversions are in place to by-pass busy areas, but most of the trail is open - including a cracking new section of boardwalk after post 20. Please be extra vigilant of timber lorries on the forest roads.

A detour from post 14 to post 17 will be in place until June 2008, to allow trees to be felled close to the trail at the top of Granny Green Luv - see the Ae Line Diversion Map (PDF 2.5Mb).

Glentress

Trails: All open.

New final descent back to the trailhead for the Blue Route now open. Note: new sections of trail are not marked on current A3 Glentress bike trail maps. Red and Black Routes continue to use Falla Brae for final descent.

Conditions: Good.

Diversions: None at the moment

Other: Note small increase in parking charges at Glentress: £3/day for car or motorbike; £6/day for van or minibus; £1 for short stay (up to 1 hour).

Innerleithen

Note: Round 2 of National DH Series is at Innerleithen on 23-25 May. Some of the downhill trails will be closed for the racing and the car park will be very busy with competitors, pits and trade stands - well worth a look! XC route will remain fully open.

XC Trails: XC route fully open including 2 new sections of red-graded singletrack descent.

DH Trails:  All four waymarked DH routes open.  Barriers across DH trails (at blind road crossings) currently closed. 

Uplift: Next uplift will be 17th and 18th May. Online booking now available for uplifts at www.upliftscotland.com.  For more info contact Tally on 07709 144299. Barriers will be open on uplift weekends. Food and drink now available on site on uplift weekends.

Conditions: Good.

Diversions: None.

Newcastleton

Note: On Saturday 17 May part of the red route will be used for the Border Raid MTB Marathon event (see www.thebikeplace.co.uk for more info/to enter) Please look out for riders and give them a cheer on!

Also: Latest trail maps available at Dykecrofts trailhead incorrectly detail a new section of singletrack on the Caddons Blue route that hasn't been completed yet! Please follow the waymarkers for this route on the ground as normal, turning left at post 3 onto Rowantree Road for the outward leg.

Trails: All open including the recently improved Caddrouns Blue Route, with over 2km of new blue grade singletrack.

Conditions: Good.

Diversions: : Until further notice (Mon - Sat), Red Route and Linns Blue Route diverted at post 12.  Rejoin Linns Blue Route at post 14 and Red Route at post 16.   Note: Diversion adds extra 3km to both routes.  Sorry for this inconvenience.
