Long Walk

This walk follows the forest road around the wood, taking in an area of broadleaved trees established as part of a national research experiment in the 1950's to assess their suitability to cope with the climate here.

How to get there:

Long Walk can be started from Brownmoor Entrance in Brownmoor which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Annan, Ecclefechan, Lockerbie, and Gretna are the nearest towns or villages.

Exit the A74(M) at junction 19. Heading east through Ecclefechan, turn right onto a minor road just before going under the motorway. There is limited parking at the end of this road. Cross several fields using the stiles provided to reach the entrance to the forest and the start of the walks. The nearest train station is in Lockerbie
