Red Squirrel Walk

As its name suggests, this walk takes you to some of the places where you're most likely to see red squirrels.

How to get there:

Red Squirrel Walk can be started from Town Wood Car Park in Dalbeattie Forest which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Dalbeattie and Colvend are the nearest towns or villages.

Leave Dalbeattie on the A710, heading south towards Colvend. All forest walks start from the 'Town Wood' car park (the first car park on the left). All bike trails start from the 'Richorn Trailhead' (the second car park on the left). The nearest train station is in Dumfries.

OS Grid Reference: NX837601

Mammals: The beautiful but endangered red squirrel has plenty of food and shelter in the forest and tend to be seen most often just after first light, or mid-afternoon. We have information about Red squirrel
