Kirkhill

Part of the red trail will be closed from Monday 13 October for harvesting work. A diversion will be set up. East Woodland Car Park will also be closed as will the link to the red trail.

Kirkhill is a working forest which really has something for everyone! There are waymarked circular walks, a permanent orienteering course, a horse trail and a cycle trail and a mountain bike fun park. There are great views to the north east from the summit of Tyrebagger Hill, and a whole network of forest roads and tracks for you to explore. The main entrance is less then 5 km from the outskirts of Aberdeen - a real 'green lung' for the city.

Room for all users

This wood is very popular with walkers, horse riders and especially with cyclists. To try to avoid conflict, we have waymarked different routes. There is room for everyone on the wide forest roads, but on the narrow trials cyclists and horse riders should avoid using the waymarked footpaths, clearly marked by either a banded post or a footprint with an arrow. These paths are vulnerable to erosion from wheel and hoof marks and are dedicated to walkers only.

How to get there:

Kirkhill is part of Aberdeen Woods. Blackburn, Hatton Of Fintray, Dyce, Kintore, Inverurie, Kirkton Of Skene, Garlogie, Westhill, Kingswells, Dyce, Newmachar, Bucksburn, and Aberdeen are the nearest towns or villages.

This wood is on the north side of the A96, between the Dyce roundabout and the Blackburn roundabout.
