About Cally Wood
This mixed broadleaved woodland is set in the picturesque village of Gatehouse of Fleet. In this tranquil woodland the cares of the world seem to drop away as you become immersed in its peaceful beauty.
There are three superb waymarked trails to follow of varying lengths from 1 to 3 miles.
The bluebells at Cally are stunning at the moment. Well worth a visit to see before they are gone for another year!
Horse riding
The Cally Horse Route is a lovely year-round trail, around 3 miles long.
Cally Boundaries Project
The Designed Landscape of Cally was laid out in the mid eighteenth century as the recreational grounds of the local landowner, James Murray of Broughton.
In 2009 a £66,500 award from The Heritage Lottery Fund (£33,000) and Leader (£33,500) will allow the Gatehouse Development Initiative - in partnership - to undertake a major project to conserve important built features, such as dykes, in the Designed Landscape of Cally Woods for the benefit of locals and visitors alike.
