About Kirroughtree Visitor Centre
Please note the visitor centre is now closed until 11th March 2010.
Visit our centre for fun for all the family. Our friendly staff offer information on all forest facilities.
Our welcoming tea room serves light meals & refreshments. Browse around our gift shop for that special souvenir.

Walks and cycling trails for all
There are waymarked walks and cycle routes including the exciting 7 stanes mountain bike trails and our easy access trail around the pond.
An indoor forest classroom is available by arrangement for schools and groups.
Our extended and improved adventure play area and picnic sites will appeal to the younger visitor.

- Thursday 12 March - Sunday 5 July: 10.30am - 4.30pm
- Monday 6 July - Sunday 6 September: 10.30am - 5.30pm
- Monday 7 September - Sunday 1 November: 10.30am - 4.30pm
- 7th November -13th December: Weekends only, 11.00am - 4.00pm
How to get there:
Kirroughtree Visitor Centre is in Galloway Forest Park. Newton Stewart and Creetown. is the nearest town or village.
From Newton Stewart:
Take A75 signposted Dumfries for 3 miles. Turn left at Palnure signposted Kirroughtree Visitor Centre.
From New Galloway:
Take A712 to Newton Stewart. Turn left at T-junction onto A75. Turn left at Palnure signposted Kirroughtree Visitor Centre.
By Bus:
Service 431 from Newton Stewart to Kirkcudbright. Exit the bus at Palnure, a short walk from Kirroughtree Visitor Centre.

Fishing permits are available for Loch Braden, Loch Dee, Black Loch, Loch of the Lowes, Lillies Loch, Spectacle Loch, Garwachie, Loch Eldrig, Stroan Loch, Linfern Loch and Palnure Burn. Permits can be purchased at any of the Visitor Centres. |

Cycling around the visitor centre is a serious concern and one that centre staff are trying to control.
We ask that all visitors respect each other especially the very young and old who can not react as swiftly as most. Cyclist are asked not to cycle past the barriers.
