(Average user rating5 unrated 5/5)

About Ae Valley Car Park

The upper section of the Green Hill Walk (blue way-markers) is closed till mid August 2010 due to the clearance of wind blown trees along the valley side. The Ae Valley bottom remains open for access. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The Ae Valley car park is the access point for the Green Hill and Riverside walks.

How to get there:

Ae Valley Car Park is in Forest of Ae which is part of Forests of the Southern Uplands. Ae, Dumfries, Moffat, and Thornhill are the nearest towns or villages.

Follow the A701 from Dumfries or Moffat. Take a turning just south of Parkgate, signposted Forest of Ae and follow this road for two miles.

At the crossroads in Ae Village, keep straight on for another half a mile and take the signposted turning for 'Ae Valley car park', where all the forest walks start.

We have done the Green Walk and would recommend it for wheelchair users who have an outdoor chair, it is more difficult to navigate in the wet weather. The views are stunning, the walk is peaceful and full of nature.
